The School
This is a good school. The proportion of students gaining five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C including English and mathematics is in line with the national average. Student progress has improved and is now good. Teaching is good. It has improved since the last inspection and some is now outstanding. Most lessons are well planned, with a range of interesting activities. Students' literacy and numeracy skills are developed well through a range of subjects. Students who need extra help to catch up are given good support. As a result, they are making at least good progress and the gaps between different groups are closing. n Students are keen to learn and they behave well in lessons and when moving around the school. They say they feel valued and respected, and appreciate the range of activities available to them. The sixth form is good. Students achieve well and make a positive contribution to the life of the school. School leaders have rightly focused on raising standards and improving the quality of teaching and learning. The governors know the school well. They know its strengths and what it needs to do to improve further. They hold staff to account for the school's performance and the quality of teaching.
