Description
We are selling our Volkswagen T4 Campervan conversion. It was our first introduction to camping / campervanning and we are hooked! We have had great fun travelling around the UK, but our next trip is to Canada and we’re not sure when we will next be able to get out in the camper.
It’s got all you could need if you are looking for either a fully equipped day van, weekender or for weeks away. Full length rock n roll bed which fits 2 adults very comfortably. Plenty of storage space (we never did get used to packing light), including a large cupboard we use as clothing storage/wardrobe, under-seat storage, and lots of space for kitchen pots and pans etc. Generous sized fridge with good freezer compartment – amazing how much you can fit in there so you can stock up on food before you leave home. Fabulous SMEV gas hob with 3 good sized burners. 2 electric sockets for toaster, kettle etc.; good sized sink. Also got 2 Captains chairs that swivel round making a comfortable cabin space for cooking and relaxing. We added a high spec Bluetooth radio/CD player with USB so you can play all your music, plus several USB charging points to keep the phone and iPad going while you are away.
We’ve had the van for 2 seasons, and have done a lot to bring it up to spec – new tyres, battery, leisure battery, radio etc. plus safety improvements to the bed fixings; we also installed 2 rear seat belts so we can drive with 2 passengers in the back if necessary. Great size for driving, easy to manoeuvre even on those narrow single track roads and no problem to park even in a tight space. Engine really powerful – no trouble getting up hills (unlike some of those under-powered vans you see struggling), and it really flies on the motorway. Paintwork not perfect but reasonable for the age of vehicle, shouldn’t take much to get it up to spec if that’s important.
We’ve been told these snub nose VW T4’s are popular for people wanting a project – there’s certainly scope to add a pop up top if someone wants to make a few changes and add to the value. But its ready to go and we found plenty of sleeping space for 2 as it is.
We’ve had this registered as a camper with the DVLA. MOT until Spring next year, so ready to make the most of what’s left of the summer! It’s been great to just pack up and set off for long weekends and weeks away – if you haven’t tried it before, I can definitely recommend it for the ultimate de –stresser!
We have used the Campervan with and without an awning. For longer trips we bought a Vango Airbeam awning for more space – £500 but great investment as its so quick to set up and loads of room check it out on the internet, it genuinely takes about 10 minutes to erect.
We are willing to sell the awning and other camping items if you are interested, otherwise it will be going on eBay.
