LIVE IN COMPANION CARE WORKERS REQUIRED IN EDINBURGH
Description
Bright Care is a local provider of in-home care and companionship for older people. We specialise in working with self-funding families who are looking for an alternative or top up to statutory services. Our focus is very much on providing quality time and companionship.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who thrive on providing fantastic care and service to our clients. People who would like to bring a smile to the faces of our elderly clients are perfect for our organisation.
Live In work is a specialized service provided for clients who need help throughout the day and sometimes at night. In most cases the family or client wants a live-in carer to provide a reassuring and helpful presence at all hours. Live in carers may provide assistance with all household tasks, some personal care and companionship. Living with someone requires a special commitment to being patient, helpful, considerate, attentive and understanding because it’s their home and you’re just an invited attendant. You can expect to work up to 8 hours during the normal working day, and up to a further 4 hours evenings and nights. Out with this hours you will have an opportunity to relax, read, sleep, watch TV or get fresh air. However, the nature of live in care work means that when you are working and when you are not working is always fluid.
Successful candidates will share our ethos, attitude and will always be willing to go the extra mile for our elderly clients. We help our clients with a whole range of practical everyday tasks, including (but not limited to):
Friendly Companionship
Grocery Shopping
Helping with the laundry and linen
Attending social events, clubs or church services
Helping in the garden
Assisting getting washed and dressed
Going on walks and outings together
Cooking and baking together
Vacuuming and dusting
Going to hospital appointments together
Reading the newspaper with them
Helping clients fill out forms, letters and paying bills
Assisting clients with medications
Experience in caring for others is highly valued, whether in a professional or informal capacity. Maybe you are someone that has not considered working in the care sector before. Working in the care of the elderly is a rewarding and honourable position.
We provide full training, mentoring and support to all our staff and further opportunities of career development through additional training and qualifications like SVQs.
We are looking for reliable workers with consistent availability. Live in care is most often performed with two carers who will work one week on one week off. We expect that you will schedule any personal meetings, appointments and errands for your time off and not interfere with the client’s care schedule.
Joining Bright Care as a member of a valued team can sometimes take 2-4 weeks as we do background checks and get you ready for work. Because this work involves one to one work with clients out in the community, a driving license and a car is a huge benefit, however, is not required.
As a family run local business we offer an attractive and competitive package of employment.
If you have any more questions about what it looks and feels like to work in our growing organisation, please do not hesitate to get in contact.
