It is an area which came to prominence in the 1930's when bungalow developments were very popular in Edinburgh. The district has, however, a much more ancient history, dating from at least the early seventeenth century. This book deals with the area's early history and the gradual change from farmland to popular suburb, taking account of the church, school, hospital, poorhouse, leisure facilities and the building of houses between 1880 and 1940. The gradual demise of Greenbank Farm, and the dispersal of the indigenous population is also covered." In excellent condition.
